Terms of Service
App: Bucketback (the "App") Provider: Ravish Labs, a sole proprietorship of {{OWNER_LEGAL_NAME}}, Bengaluru, Karnataka, India ("we", "us") Effective: {{DATE}} · Version 1.0
By installing or using the App you (the merchant and the legal entity operating the Shopify store) agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not install the App.
1. The service
The App copies your Shopify store's products, variants, metafields, collections, pages, navigation menus, discounts and theme files into a storage bucket you own and configure, keeps a field-level change log, and lets you restore those objects from a snapshot. The current scope is described in the App listing and privacy policy. In this version the App does not back up or restore orders, customers, inventory quantities, or re-attach product images and videos on restore; we may add or change scope over time.
2. Your bucket, your responsibilities
- You must supply a working S3-compatible bucket and credentials with permission to list, read, write and delete objects in it. The bucket, its costs, its retention rules, its access control and its availability are between you and your storage provider.
- You are responsible for keeping those credentials valid, for not applying lifecycle rules that delete backups you still want, and for the security of your Shopify staff accounts.
- You confirm that you are entitled to copy your store's content to that bucket, and that content you place in products, pages, metafields or themes does not break any law or third-party right.
- The App is a safety net, not your only one. Shopify is the system of record; keep your own exports for anything critical.
3. Restores
- Every restore is started by you. The App never writes to your store except when you confirm a restore after viewing the dry-run preview, or when it takes the automatic safety backup immediately before that restore.
- The dry-run preview shows the field changes the App intends to make based on the snapshot and the store state at preview time. If the store changes between preview and confirmation, the result may differ.
- Restores are limited by what the Shopify Admin API allows. Some fields (for example certain system-managed IDs, product media attachment, inventory) cannot be written back, and we will say so in the preview where we can detect it.
- Review the preview carefully. You are responsible for the outcome of a restore you confirm; the safety backup exists so you can undo it.
4. Plans, trial and billing
- Fees are charged through Shopify under the plan you select on the App's plan page (Shopify App Pricing). They appear on your Shopify invoice; we never collect card details.
- Each plan includes a 14-day free trial once per store. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, the plan's recurring fee starts automatically.
- Plans are priced by catalog size. If your product count exceeds your plan's limit, the App will keep existing backups safe, pause new snapshots, and ask you to upgrade. We may apply a reasonable grace period.
- Upgrades and downgrades take effect as Shopify applies them; Shopify's proration rules govern. Fees are non-refundable except where Shopify's billing terms or applicable law require a refund.
- We may change prices with at least 30 days' notice via the App or email; the change applies at your next billing cycle after the notice period.
5. Acceptable use
Do not reverse-engineer, resell or sublicense the App; probe or disrupt its infrastructure; use it to store content unlawful in India or in your jurisdiction; or use it in a way that breaches Shopify's Terms of Service, Acceptable Use Policy or API Terms. We may throttle backup frequency for stores whose change volume materially exceeds what the plan is designed for, after telling you.
6. Intellectual property
We own the App, its code, design and documentation. You own your store data and the files written to your bucket, which are in open formats (JSON, Liquid) and may be used by you without the App. You grant us the limited licence to process your store data that is needed to provide the App, as described in the privacy policy.
7. Privacy
Our privacy policy ({{PRIVACY_URL}}) is part of these Terms and includes the data-processing terms that apply when you are the controller of personal data.
8. Availability and changes
We aim for high availability but do not promise any uptime level. We may change, suspend or discontinue features with reasonable notice, and may discontinue the App entirely on at least 60 days' notice, during which your backups remain in your bucket and you may export anything held by us.
9. Disclaimer of warranties
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE". TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND ANY WARRANTY THAT BACKUPS WILL BE COMPLETE, CURRENT, UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE OR RESTORABLE, OR THAT A RESTORE WILL RETURN YOUR STORE TO AN EXACT PRIOR STATE. Backups depend on Shopify's APIs and webhooks, your storage provider and your credentials, none of which we control. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
10. Limitation of liability
- TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE APP OR THESE TERMS, WHETHER IN CONTRACT, TORT (INCLUDING NEGLIGENCE), STATUTE OR OTHERWISE, IS LIMITED TO THE FEES YOU PAID FOR THE APP THROUGH SHOPIFY IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, or US$100 if that is greater.
- WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST REVENUE, PROFITS, SALES, GOODWILL OR DATA, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY.
- We are not liable for loss caused by: storage-provider outages or deletions; invalid or revoked bucket credentials; Shopify API limits, outages or changes; a restore you confirmed; or content you placed in your store.
- These limits do not apply to liability for fraud, wilful misconduct, or anything that cannot be limited under applicable law.
11. Indemnity
You will indemnify us against third-party claims arising from content you store through the App or your breach of section 2 or 5.
12. Term and termination
- These Terms apply from install until uninstall.
- You may terminate at any time by uninstalling the App from your Shopify admin; Shopify stops billing at the end of the current cycle under its rules.
- We may suspend or terminate your access immediately for breach of section 5, non-payment reported by Shopify, or a legal requirement, and otherwise on 30 days' notice.
- On termination: backups in your bucket are untouched; our working copy is deleted as described in the privacy policy (on Shopify's
shop/redactsignal, 48 hours after uninstall); sections 6, 9, 10, 11, 13 and 14 survive.
13. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Courts in Bengaluru, Karnataka have exclusive jurisdiction, subject to section 13.1.
- Any dispute not resolved within 30 days of written notice will be referred to arbitration under the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996, by a sole arbitrator seated in Bengaluru, conducted in English. Either party may seek interim relief in court.
- If you are a consumer in a jurisdiction whose mandatory law gives you different rights, those rights prevail.
14. General
Entire agreement between you and us about the App (Shopify's own terms govern your relationship with Shopify). If a clause is unenforceable the rest stands. We may assign these Terms to a successor of the business; you may not assign without consent. Notices to us: legal@{{DOMAIN}}. Notices to you: the store owner email on your Shopify account. We may update these Terms with 14 days' notice by email or in-App; continued use after that is acceptance.
